5 Best Home DIY Projects To Do in the Fall
ShareTweetEmail

Autumn is one of the best times of the year for working on your home. The sun isn’t as intense, making it a great time to make any necessary adjustments. Here are five of the best home DIY projects to do in the fall that will have you feeling better than ever before in your living space.

1. Power Washing

Spring is a season full of pollen, and summer often comes with winds that kick up a lot of dirt and sun that may cause noticeable wear and tear on your home. Autumn is a great time to dig out the power washer and give the outside of your home a thorough cleaning.

2. Painting Your Door

There are a lot of major home repairs you can do yourself, but sometimes, a smaller project is a good thing to focus on. Giving your front door a fresh coat of paint is an excellent way to enhance your home’s curb appeal, and it’s a great first step to more significant renovations down the road.

3. Cleaning the Gutters

Getting all the gunk and grime out of your gutters is never a fun chore, but it’s always a good idea to tackle this after the summer rains start to wane. One of the best home DIY projects you can do in the fall is investing in some form of grating or mesh to keep your gutters clear of debris.

4. Service Your Ceiling Fans

We probably don’t clean our ceiling fans as often as we should, but those spinning blades pick up a lot of dust, so you should turn off the fan and wipe down those blades. This cleaning process keeps dust from flying around your home, and while you’re at it, this may be a good time to reverse the direction of your ceiling fans to avoid blowing cold air on you now that the temperatures are dropping.

5. Replace Your Air Filters

While you’re ensuring you have quality air, we recommend using this season to swap out your air filters. After a long, hot summer, your air filters probably have a lot of dust and dirt in them from the vents. Autumn is a great time to swap out these filters to give yourself clean air on cold days and reduce the stress you put on your heating system.
