The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office had a busy weekend as deputies investigated a violent robbery in Rarden on Saturday and the mysterious shooting of an Otway woman on Sunday. Here’s what Sheriff Marty Donini had to say about both investigations:
Rarden Robbery
A caller from Graywolfe Lodge pay lake in Rarden reported a robbery at 4:30 am on Saturday. The caller said two men entered the business. One man beat an employee. The other stole fishing poles and other items. Both men fled on foot. The victim was treated and released at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Nolen responded to the scene. Deputy Nolen obtained witness statements. Additionally, he looked at surveillance video from the scene. Additionally, he notified detectives who began their investigation.
Detective and deputies worked together to identify both suspects. They searched several locations in an attempt to find them. Eventually, a detective learned one of the suspects was at his girlfriend’s apartment in Wheelersburg. Deputies detained the suspect and retrieved the stolen property. The other suspect called the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and agreed to come in.
Deputies arrested:
Ty A. Howard, 23, of Lucasville
Hunter Goodwin, 19, of Columbus
As a result, the Sheriff’s Office charged both aggravated robbery and booked them into the jail on $50,000 bond. Donini said it is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information should contact Detective Kirk Jackson at 740-351-1093.
Sunday was equally eventful for deputies.
Otway Woman Shot
An Otway man called 911 at 10:15 pm on Sunday and reported his wife had been shot. The man told officers his wife heard a popping noise and told him she might have been shot.
Deputies and an ambulance responded to the home on Curtis Smith Road in Otway, Ohio. According to the sheriff, the woman had a gunshot wound in her upper chest area. An air ambulance transported Lydia Ridon, 35, to Cabell County Huntington Hospital. She is in stable condition.
Sheriff Donini said Detective Kirk Jackson is investigating the incident. Anyone with information should contact Detective Jackson at 740-351-1093.
