A woman calls police for an overflowing toilet and a dog goes Krogering. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
Just after noon, the Salvation Army reported a man screaming and yelling and throwing his food on the floor. It turned out to be a man who police have daily contact who has been arrested 54 times, mostly for disorderly conduct. An ambulance transported him to the hospital.
Dog Goes Krogering
Just before 6 pm, police received a report of a dog that keeps running into Kroger. Police contacted Animal Control but no one was available to pick up the dog.
An officer took the dog to the police garage and left in a kennel for animal control.
No Place To Go
Police responded to Branch Rickey Park for a report of a wrecked red truck at 10:30 pm. Officers said the truck was not wrecked, but there was a homeless person living in the vehicle.
Breaking and Entering
At 11:30 pm, a caller reported a man with a flashlight stealing items inside the old Elite Building on 3rd Street.
They found a 58-year-old man digging in the dumpster and loading metal into a truck. The man had an open warrant. Police took him into custody and arranged to tow the vehicle.
Police contacted the owner of the truck.
Under the Influence
Officers responded to an overdose on Walnut Street just after 1 am. Callers reported the man was turning purple. He was alert by the time police arrived. He refused medical treatment.
Woman Calls Police for Overflowing Toilet
A woman contacted police just before 6 am to report that her toilet was overflowing. An officer shut off the water and left a message for building maintenance.
Woman Refuses to Leave Tracks
Just before 9 am, Norfolk Southern employees reported a woman wearing a flowered skirt and blue jacket on the tracks at 8th and Young Street.
An officer spoke to her and advised her not to walk on the tracks as she could be arrested for criminal trespassing.
Police said the woman has a mental impairment. They attempted to notify her parole officer but no one answered.
