Cops Search Homeless Camp After Theft From Business
Just after 6:30 am, Portsmouth Feed & Supply contacted Portsmouth Police to report a theft. Officers took information for a report.
An officer also checked the homeless camp behind the floodwall as part of the investigation.
Employees of the Portsmouth Post Office contacted officers to report homeless people camping in the building lobby. Police advised the individuals to leave and they complied.
Man Causes Disturbance at Portsmouth Little Theatre
Witnesses said a man caused a disturbance at the Portsmouth Little Theatre on Saturday afternoon. They reported that a man came into the theater and caused a scene.
They also said he was recording people with his phone and generally causing a disturbance. Additionally, they reported that he had mentioned the theatre in several Facebook posts.
The organization said it would send him a notification that he’d been trespassed from the premises.
Drive-Thru Rage at Tim Horton’s
An unhappy Tim Horton’s customer caused an issue in the drive-thru line just before noon. A woman said a man in a red car got upset because he didn’t think she pulled up enough in the line, so he blocked her vehicle.
He then got out of his vehicle and approached hers while yelling obscenities. She managed to get the license number of his vehicle before he left.
Tack Reported in Food at Sonic
Police responded to the Sonic on 12th Street after a customer reported a potentially dangerous item in their food.
The caller said they found a tack in their meal. The manager admitted that the restaurant had changed signs that day, so it was possible a tack could have fallen into the food.
Police determined there was nothing criminal involved in the incident.
Mysterious White Powder Found at Weaver’s
Officers responded to Weaver’s in West Portsmouth after a witness discovered a packet containing a powdery white substance in the parking lot.
They were unsure of what it was and did not want to touch it.
A deputy responded to the scene and collected the suspicious package. It turned out to be a package of Breath Savers that had been run over in the parking lot.
Dog Dumped in Cage in Dollar General Dumpster
A woman contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office after she found a small cage containing a dog dumped in the dumpster at the New Boston Dollar General.
The woman said she attempted to contact New Boston Police, but they refused to file a report about the incident. She took the animal home with her and was trying to find out if any nearby business had video of the animal being abandoned.
Overdose Reported at Wheelersburg McDonald’s Drive-Thru
Just after 8 am, officers responded to a report of an overdose in the drive-thru at the Wheelersburg McDonald’s. EMS personnel arrived and treated the woman. No transport to the hospital was necessary.
Fifty minutes later, EMS and officers were called to Sr. Rte 73 for a report of a man having a mental health crisis. He left the area before officers arrived but later called 911 and said he was in the woods and in need of help.
Officers and EMS were able to find the man after about 45 minutes. An ambulance transported him to the emergency room.
Troubled Woman Melts Down at Fred’s
Officers headed to Fred’s Restaurant in Wheelersburg after a caller reported a friend in the midst of a mental health crisis fled the restaurant.
A few minutes later, an employee of the Wheelersburg Marathon reported that a confused woman had come into the station asking for a ride back to Huntington, West Virginia.
Officers managed to reunite the troubled woman with her family.
Kid Caught Stealing Alcohol at the Super Quik
An attempt at underage drinking was nipped in the bud on Friday evening. An employee of the Super Quik on the Scioto Trail called the cops when a juvenile attempted to steal some alcohol.
Since the boy didn’t make it out the door with the booze, he was not charged with theft. However, the store trespassed him, and he was warned not to return to the scene of the attempted crime.
