The arrest of two Lawrence County men has helped to solve several open cases of breaking and entering and theft of expensive property in the Rome/Proctorville area.
The Proctorville Police Department says Troy D. Edwards is the man behind the theft of multiple air conditioning units, tools, and car batteries. Police say he also broke into several vacant properties and stripped and stole copper wiring as well as anything else he could get his hands on. He then sold the metal to area junkyards.
Cops finally arrested him on February 21 for breaking int Jerry’s Muffler Shop in Proctorville. He was charged with breaking and entering, theft of a firearm, and tampering with evidence.
On February 23, police interviewed Joseph Lewis. Lewis was then charged with one count of receiving stolen property. Lewis will be in Lawrence County Municipal Court on Monday.
Police say it’s likely both suspects will be looking at additional charges when the case is submitted to a Lawrence County Grand Jury.
