Logan Warren was only 25 years old when wrong-way driver John Moore, who police believe was under the influence, crashed head-on into him on St. Rt. 220 last Sunday, killing him at the scene.
But the young man had already spent five years working for Beaver Volunteer Fire and EMS. His community is heartbroken. Members of other area fire departments escorted his body home to Beaver on Tuesday. A celebration of his too-short life was held at the Beaver Fire Department on Saturday.
His obituary described him as having “…a heart full of kindness and a spirit that left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His larger-than-life personality lit up every room, and his generosity, loyalty, and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him. Whether offering a helping hand or leaving a positive influence on many lives, Logan’s presence was truly a gift (and if you don’t believe that—just ask him).”
Moore was transported to the hospital after the crash but later arrested for vehicular homicide. A crash report from OSP said they believed Moore was impaired.
Just a week before the crash, a jury in Scioto County acquitted him on an aggravated murder charge in the shooting death of his girlfriend’s father.
As our area struggles with a shortage of firefighters and EMTs, it is especially heartbreaking that a young man who stepped up and answered the call to serve his community was lost in a preventable tragedy.
