In a dramatic twist to an ongoing landlord-tenant feud that erupted into violence last year, shots rang out once more, leaving residents on edge.
Lawrence County Deputies were dispatched to County Road 213 after a frantic complaint was lodged. A woman reported that her husband was being closely tailed by a man with whom the family has a rocky history.
The tension escalated when the husband, calling his wife from the road, warned her that the stalker was “right on his ass.” Shortly after he arrived home, the woman heard the unmistakable sound of gunfire—two to three shots fired in their direction!
Enter Isaiah Conkey, the couple’s son, who allegedly fired three warning shots into the ground upon seeing the man follow his stepdad home.
“I was scared,” Isaiah revealed, recalling a previous terrifying encounter where he shot the same individual in alleged self-defense. Casings from the warning shots were found and collected at the scene.
Adding to the chaotic scene, the stepdad recounted his harrowing experience from just days earlier. While visiting R & R Groceries, he couldn’t shake the feeling of being followed—capturing it all on video as the man trailed closely behind him.
But the drama doesn’t end there! Last April, a violent incident in Gallia County linked to this very conflict made headlines when a shooting occurred that left the man accused of following the stepfather in stable condition after being airlifted to a trauma center.
Authorities believed it all stemmed from the same landlord-tenant dispute, and they put out a press release saying they wanted to talk to Isaiah Conkey in connection with the shooting. However, there not record of an indictment or any charges for last year’s shootout in Gallia County. What’s next in this deadly game of cat and mouse? Only time will tell, but residents are holding their breath!
