It was a busy and unpredictable day for emergency services in Scioto County on June 15, with over 60 calls fielded by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), EMS, and local fire departments. From domestic disputes and medical transports to traffic offenses, suspicious vehicles, and more false alarms than we can count on two hands, first responders were stretched across the county.
In early 2025, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office decided to stop providing detailed call logs to Scioto County Daily News, limiting our ability to bring you the in-depth, boots-on-the-ground reports we’ve offered in the past. But rest assured—we remain committed to transparency and will continue reporting all the details we can access.
Here’s a breakdown of what happened on June 15, 2025:
🚑 EMS & Fire Calls: Medical Emergencies Dominate the Day
Scioto County EMS crews were busy with 22 medical squad calls, spread from the early morning hours through late at night. At least 12 patients were transported to medical facilities, while six calls resulted in no transport.
Medical Hotspots:
- Edgewood Manor (Big Bear Creek Rd) had two separate calls.
- Counseling Center and Phoenix Group Home also saw patient transports.
- Forest Dr/US 23, Gephart Rd, and St. Rte. 348 were other active EMS areas.
Fire and Vehicle Incidents:
- Fire crews responded to two structure fires—one on St. Rte. 73 and another near US Hwy 52 and St. Rte. 522.
- A vehicle fire was reported on St. Rte. 823.
- Fire units also responded to a parade detail twice at The Depot on St. Rte. 73.
🚓 Crime & Complaints: Investigations, Domestic Disputes, and Juvenile Issues
Domestic Disturbances (3 Total):
- Hackworth Hill Rd, Maple St, and Third St saw domestic calls, with Maple St resulting in a formal report.
Juvenile Incidents (3 Total):
- Juvenile complaints were logged on Stennett Rd, Duis St, and Kulp Rd—the latter being classified as a runaway.
Threats and Assaults:
- A threats/harassment call was reported on Swauger Valley Rd.
- A physical assault occurred late in the evening on Gallia Pike and drew a strong response from deputies.
Shots Fired:
- A report of shots fired came in from Findlay and 16th St, but officers were unable to locate any shooter or evidence.
🚔 Alarms and Suspicious Activity: False Alarms Flood Dispatch
There were seven false alarm drops throughout the day, including three at the Scioto County Dog Pound and others at Valley Asphalt, Big Sandy, and the Scioto County Garage.
Meanwhile, deputies investigated three suspicious vehicles, including one parked at Minford IGA and another at Jason Conley Truck Sales.
🚗 Traffic and Patrol Issues:
Deputies logged several traffic-related calls, including:
- Three traffic offenses, each resulting in warnings (Dry Run Rd, 12th St/Washington Blvd, and Bocook’s Garage).
- Two non-injury accidents, including one at Center St and Ohio River Rd.
- A traffic jam on Big Bear Creek Rd near McCorkle-Rockwell.

- Gallia Pike, Ohio River Rd, Big Bear Creek Rd, and St. Rte. 73.
