Alice Ann Newman, 81, of Rarden, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Concord Health and Rehab in Wheelersburg. She was born on July 13, 1944 in Adams County to the late Denver Smith and Annetta Mae Evans Smith. On January 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Newman who preceded her in death on November 21, 12016. Surviving are her children; Misti (Roger) Cunningham of Stout and Melody (Jerry) Messer of McDermott; grandchildren, Alec (Jackie) Cunningham of Rochester, New York, Drew Cunningham of Massachusetts and Alyssa (Clayton) Messer Whitaker of Portsmouth; great grandchildren, Harrison Cunningham of Rochester, New York, Knox Whitaker of Portsmouth, Kyson Whitaker of Portsmouth and Khloe Whitaker of Portsmouth; sister-in-law; Jackie (Bucky) Johnson of Mineral Springs and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her son; Baby Lloyd and her brothers; Dwayne Seaman, James Smith and Ronald Smith, I.
Alice was a member of the Rarden Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10:00 a.m until noon at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway. A graveside service will follow in Mustard Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with Tim Throckmorton officiating. The family requests in leiu of flowers that donations be made to SOMC Hospice in memory of Alice. Alice’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Concord Health and Rehab for the care they provided to Alice and the compassion shown to their family.
