Andrew Shepherd, 74, of Lucasville, died September 14, 2022, at SOMC Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was born February 15, 1948, to the late Edgiel and Ruth Self Shepherd. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edgiel Jr. and Jimmy Shepherd.
During his lifetime, Andrew was a member of the Teamsters Union, drove a truck, and was an auto mechanic but spent most of his career as an auto mechanic working for Foster and Fankle. An avid gardener, Andrew loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching football, especially a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Barbara L. Shepherd, who he married on December 28, 1979; his children, Andrew “AJ” (Christy) Shepherd, Michael (Tonya) Ruggles, and Terrie (Anthony) Hopkins; 3 brothers, Alvin, Brice, and Jerry Shepherd; 6 sisters, Lucille Luce, Geneva Nile, Cathy Rice, Betty Hairfield, Irene Hensley, and Angela Burleson; 6 grandchildren, Dalton Shepherd, Chris Burke, Tiffany (Jacob) Fetty, Timothy (Courtney) Ruggles, Rebecca (Kevin) Bolton, and Jacob Ruggles; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Betty J. Shepherd; and many friends that will miss him dearly.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Kenny Estep officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park to immediately follow. Friends may call at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Monday.
