Officers responded to a Portsmouth home after a 9-1-1 hang-up call. A woman later called back, saying a man armed with knives had threatened to harm himself and others but that people on the scene had gotten the knives away from him.
When police arrived on the scene, they learned the man was suffering from psychiatric issues and that no one in the home wanted to press charges.
Medics, accompanied by officers, transported the man to SOMC for treatment.
