Portsmouth Police had one heck of a time finding a wanted man after a caller claimed he “popped out of the floorboards” after hiding from police.
Officers first went to a Summit Street home to look for the guy after a caller tipped them off that he was there and had a weapon. Police checked out the home around 9 pm but couldn’t locate him.
Someone called 9-1-1 a little after midnight to report the man was there and had just popped up out of the floor.
Officers headed to the scene and spotted the guy running off toward Robinson Avenue. Officers responded with a K9 unit and searched the area, including looking inside a garage but couldn’t find him. They did manage to locate a stolen gun left behind in the house where he hit out.
Around 4 am, police returned to search another Summit Street house as well as homes on Vinton and Timmonds Avenue but could not locate their suspect.
