A Kentucky man went on a wild crime spree on Saturday evening before Scioto County Sheriff’s Officers took him into custody.
It started when he stole a vehicle from the Portsmouth AutoZone and drove it to Shawnee Grocery in Stout.
He then put a pair of underwear on his head and pulled a gun on the clerk, demanding they empty the cash register. When officers were notified of the crime, they sprang into action.
Deputies and detectives quickly arrived on the scene and linked the vehicle the suspect was driving to a vehicle theft in Portsmouth.
An Adams County Deputy spotted the vehicle near Germany Hill Road and U.S. 52. The deputy stopped the vehicle and held the suspect until backup arrived.
Scioto County Deputies recovered stolen money, a gun, and the pair of underwear that 30-year-old Davonta Edward Mitchell allegedly wore on his head during the robbery.
Officers booked Mitchell into the Scioto County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and grand theft auto. Bail was set at $207,500.
