Officers arrested a man for felonious assault and attempted murder after he allegedly shot his girlfriend’s father in the stomach Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:45 pm, a woman was trying to get back into the home she had previously shared with a boyfriend on Lick Run Lyra Road, but he had changed the locks. She contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department to ask for an escort. A few minutes later she called 911 to say the man had shot her father in the stomach with a 20-gauge shotgun.
Officers and EMS responded to the home. The scene, of course, was chaotic as the victim lay in the yard while the shooter was believed to still be in the house.

A deputy applied pressure to the wounds and waited for backup to arrive. In short order, the suspect was held at gunpoint and detained.
An ambulance was then able to safely approach and then transport the injured man to SOMC.
Deputies arrested John Moore for attempted murder and felonious assault and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
The incident remains under investigation.
