Avanell Hunt Bentley, 101, of South Shore, KY., went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ashland Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. She was born February 11, 1924, in Maloneton, KY., a daughter of the late Robert M. Hunt Sr. and Beatrice Gahan Hunt.
Avanell was a dedicated wife of 76 years, mother, and homemaker. She took great pride in caring for her family and creating a home filled with stability, love and strength. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, working and attending church at First Baptist Church in South Shore, KY.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Roy Bentley; two sons, William Joseph Bentley and Gary Lee Bentley; two sisters, Naomi Morman and Thelma Parker; three brothers, Red Hunt, Paul Hunt and Carl Hunt.
Left behind to cherish her memory are one son, Dr Danny R. (Cheri) Bentley of Russell, KY; four grandchildren, Kathi Bentley-Veach, Kim Ann Wolfenbarker, Erin Ramey and Mica Bentley Donchatz, along with several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and family and friends who will sadly miss her. The family would like to give special thanks to Don Morman, Kenny Alexander, Brenda Hayes, and Sherry Lyons for always being there for Avanell.
Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. on Saturday January 10, 2026, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Brett Unger and Dr. Danny Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
