Barbara Jean Williams, 69, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at her home. She was born on July 28, 1955, in Vanceburg, KY, the daughter of the late Doris Joann Riley Branham and Ronald Kennard.
Barbara retired from SOMC Hospice, and she had worked as a private duty home health care aide for many years. As a younger woman, she provided a Bread Ministry to many of the residents of the PMHA Housing complexes. Barbara graduated from Portsmouth High School and had earned a Business Management Degree from the former Shawnee State Community College. She also served in the US Air Force. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, yard sales, and collecting Americana décor.
Surviving is her husband of 36 years, Curtis Ray Williams, whom she married on October 1, 1988, in Greenup, KY. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Eugene (Alexandria ‘Alex’ Kimbler) Crabtree of New Boston, and Raymond Joseph Crabtree of Atlanta, GA; stepfather, Earl Raymond Branham of Portsmouth; one grandson, Maliki Kimbler of New Boston; and two brothers, John (Christine) Kennard of San Bernadino, CA, and David (Tammy) Branham of Memphis, TN.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by two siblings, Roger Greenfield and Brenda Kay Rister; and a granddaughter, Kyley Jade Skaggs.
