Barbara Jeanette Bretz, 76, of South Shore, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 23, 1949, a daughter of the late Eugene T. Holbrook and Ellen Crum Holbrook.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Michael Bretz.
Barb retired from her position as a Switchboard Operator at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She enjoyed cooking for her family, shopping with her friends, and attending church at Safe Haven Bible Chapel in West Portsmouth, Ohio.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Eugene Bretz (Rhea) of Grayson, Kentucky; a step-son, Michael Todd Bretz of Portsmouth, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Debra Bretz May of South Shore, Kentucky; and very special friends, Debbie Vanbibber and Connie Howard, both from South Shore, Kentucky. Barb also leaves behind many other friends and family members who will deeply miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky, with Brother Jack Lore officiating. Burial will follow at the Northeast Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, located at 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Grayson, Kentucky, at 2:00 P.M.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, September 11, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Buddy May, Brian May, Marc May, Keith Glispie, Kevin Glispie, Marc Lands, Bobby Howard, and Jason Vanbibber.
