Man’s best friends turned into unlikely heroes on Walnut Street after their nonstop barking tipped off neighbors that something was terribly wrong.
Just after 9 p.m., a concerned caller phoned 911, reporting that several dogs inside a nearby home had been barking non-stop for over an hour — highly unusual behavior, especially for the typically quiet household. The caller noted that an elderly man lived at the home and feared something had happened.
When officers arrived, they made a heartbreaking discovery: the man was found deceased in the garage.
Police immediately contacted Animal Control to care for the dogs, though no one was available until the following day. In the meantime, officers ensured the animals were safe and comfortable. The Scioto County Coroner’s Office was called in, and the investigation into the man’s death is ongoing.
While the outcome was tragic, neighbors and authorities alike praised the dogs for raising the alarm.
It’s clear these dogs knew something was wrong and did their best to let someone know. Without them, it might’ve taken much longer to discover what happened.
These loyal pups proved once again that dogs aren’t just pets — they’re family. In a moment of crisis, they barked for help… and someone listened.
