Franklin Avenue had itself a Sunday morning special when two separate calls about people swinging baseball bats hit 911 within half an hour — turning the quiet neighborhood into a scene straight out of a backyard brawl.
⚾ Call #1: “He Tried to Hit His Son With a Bat!”
Just before 11 a.m., officers rushed to Franklin Avenue after someone reported a man tried to hit his own son with a baseball bat.
But by the time police arrived, the suspect had fled the area, the crowd had cooled off, and nobody wanted to file a report — a frustratingly common problem for officers trying to hold people accountable.
🦇 Call #2: And Then… More Bats
Thirty minutes later, another call came in from a different spot on the same street:
People with bats arguing in the roadway.
Officers found a tense scene between a man, his girlfriend, and others involved in the argument. Police stepped in and mediated a safe exit, allowing the couple to gather their belongings and leave the area.
All involved parties were warned to knock it off, stop the disorderly behavior, and advised about the very real consequences of disorderly conduct — persistent if they didn’t cool down.
