Just before 10:30 pm, Kroger employees called 911 to report the pair behind a notorious theft incident at Walmart were at it again and trying to steal items from the store.
Witnesses said the pair left in a Uhaul and headed east on 11th Street. Workers thought they got all of their items back. However, officers couldn’t find Bently and Carpenter.
If you’ll remember, the pair were charged with robbery in assault after an incident late last year at Walmart and were implicated in a missing vehicle in Lawrence County last month.
An elderly Pedro man called deputies to say that Sixx Bently and Jesse James Carpenter were staying at his home to help take care of him. He said the pair borrowed his vehicle to go to the store but had not returned for five days. Officers took information for a report. Late last year, the Scioto County Grand Jury indicted the pair for assault and robbery after an incident in the Walmart parking lot.
However, after a string of pre-trial hearings and motions, the prosecution dismissed those charges with prejudice, which means they can choose to refile them at a later date.
