Betty Jean Warnock, age 94, of Hill View Retirement Center, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at home with her son, Wayne, and daughter-in-law, Barbara, at her side. Born on February 7, 1932, in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late William Newell and Jane Vickery Horton.
Betty was a longtime member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, a graduate of Portsmouth High School and a retired secretary for the Scioto County Commissioners.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Gerald E. “Smiley” Warnock; a brother, Newtie Horton and a sister, Janet Stapleton.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Maggie) Warnock and Wayne (Barbara) Warnock; four grandchildren, Jesse (Valerie) Warnock, Megan (Tana) Warnock, Nathan (Billie) Eaves and Jacob Bodner and great-grandchildren Shea, Sophia, Zayne, Nolan, Cameron, Hadley and Myles and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21st, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
