Bigfoot and Mothman are pretty popular personalities around these parts – so much so that two Portsmouth citizens once got into a fight over Bigfoot at Burger King that required police intervention. Now, they’re getting their very own bobbleheads as part of a new cryptid collection from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. A cryptid is a creature that’s popular in legend, but hasn’t been proven to exist.
No doubt many of you are familiar with West Virginia’s Mothman, who spawned his very own festival and statue in Point Pleasant. He’s famed for his red eyes, large wings, and humanoid body as well as being a harbinger of doom.
Our friend Bigfoot also has his own Hocking Hills festival. Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch is a large ape-like creature that’s been sighted in the US numerous times over hundreds of years.
Also receiving bobbleheads are Southwestern legend, the bloodsucking Chupacabra, Maryland’s Goatman (exactly what it sounds like half-man half-goat), the Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, Jackalope, and Jersey Devil.
“We’re excited to be unveiling the first Cryptid Bobblehead Series in conjunction with National Bobblehead Day,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Many of these cryptids have never had a bobblehead or don’t have readily available bobbleheads, and we think this will be a popular series for collectors and fans of cryptid creatures.”
If these prove to be as popular at limited edition Stanley Cups, Portsmouth Police might have to break up another Bigfoot argument. See that all too real article below.
