A strange chain of events led police to search a local counseling center for an explosive device.
It started on Monday when someone emailed the Avon-Somerset police in the United Kingdom about a bomb at an address on Court Street all the way across the Atlantic in Portsmouth, OhioOfficers in England notified the Portsmouth Police Department about the threat.
It claimed that a Deleware, Ohio woman planned to harm people at The Counseling Center on Court Street with an explosive device.
Officers headed to the location and assisted an employee in checking the building for any suspicious devices but nothing was found.
While employees were familiar with the woman named in the threat, neither she nor any other clients were there at the time.
Around 1 a.m. in the morning on Tuesday, officers were once again dispatched to The Counseling Center after someone called Crime Stoppers with a similar tip. The caller claimed that the same woman named in the first tip had a bomb at that location.
They found the building locked with no signs of forced entry. Officers have advised employees at the Counseling Center to notify them if they notice anything unusual.
The incident is still under investigation.
