A woman managed to fend off a vicious attack by her own pit bull by shooting the animal. Officers and EMS responded to a home just after 4 pm and found a woman with blood on her legs and face. The woman told them her Pit Bull attacked her puppy. When she and a man in the home tried to break up the fight, the larger dog attacked them.
She shot the dog with a Glock .43 and killed it. Officers applied a tourniquet to the woman’s leg and tried to bandage her face while they waited for EMS.
Deputies contacted the dog warden as well as the gun and shell casings. EMS transported the man and woman to a Huntington hospital.
