Shoppers at the Harding Avenue Dollar General got an unsettling surprise when employees spotted a man in the parking lot “covered in blood.”
Police arrived quickly and found the man — described as red-haired, wearing shorts and a blue shirt. He was taken into custody, and officers arranged to have his vehicle towed.
But the situation took a turn at the Scioto County Jail. Staff refused to admit him because of a busted lip. Instead, police issued him a citation, and medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department transported him to the hospital for treatment.
What caused the bloody spectacle wasn’t immediately clear, but the sight had plenty of bystanders talking.
