Deputies responding to a home health company’s request for a welfare check made a tragic discovery at a Jackson Furnace Road home.
Just before 11:30 a.m., a home health aide reported that a client was not answering the door and she couldn’t see anyone inside. She said she hadn’t seen the man since the previous Friday and he didn’t have any family in town to assist him. She said it was unlike him not to call if he was going to be out.
A few hours later, a relative of the man called deputies and said she would permit them to force their way into the home to check on him.
Sadly, when an officer entered, they found the man apparently deceased. Medics arrived on the scene and confirmed the death. The coroner told officers to release the deceased to a local funeral home.
