Body Found in Portsmouth Ohio
Just after 8 pm on Wednesday evening, a call came into the Portsmouth Ohio Police Department for a Welfare Check. A family member was already en route to meet with officials in the 1800 block of Jackson St. The fire department was called to force entry into the home where a body was found.
Detectives were dispatched to the scene and the Scioto County Coroner was notified just before 8:30 pm. We hope to learn more information from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing later today.
At the same time this was going on, a serious incident was taking place near Pond Run in Stout. A patient needed to be intubated and was transported to the helipad at SOMC. Volunteers from Nile and Washington Township Fire and Rescue were on hand for that call.
While dispatchers were working diligently to handle all of the logistics of those two calls, a female made a 911 call stating that a semi-tractor trailer was following her and her passenger on US 23 (near Cockrells Run Rd) at a very close range. The caller stated she was afraid to slow down and the trucker was flashing his lights into their vehicle. Officers were able to locate the truck and made a stop.
All in the same hour, a Lawrence County Deputy called OSP for assistance to break up a large fight. The Deputy advised that 30 people were involved in a large scale confrontation and needed back up. OSP units scrambled to find the Deputy’s exact location. Eventually, they found the Deputy and were able to assist him with the crowd.
As the day moves on, we will do our best to get official reports on all of these incidents.
These events all happened in the same one hour period.
