Bonita Shirelle McKinley, 61, of Columbus, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. She was born in Portsmouth on January 11, 1963, to the late Connie Gilchrist White and Charles Fayson.
A Christian, Bonita loved to spend time with family, and acting silly and being sarcastic were her trademarks. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching television, and talking about the Lord. Bonita also was a huge fan of the Michigan Wolverines and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surviving are her children, Shiara (Roderick) Coney of Baltimore, MD, and Adrian Simone (Michelle) Fayson of Columbus; two brothers, Mark Gilchrist of Portsmouth and Bryan White of Columbus; four sisters, Lorna Poore of Columbus, Cynthia Fayson of NY, Shauna Moore and Shayla Hale, both of Columbus; and four grandchildren, Nikiyah Fayson, King Coney, Bobby Perry, Jr., and Shelia Perry.
In addition to her parents, Bonita was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold White.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Bishop Marcus Bendolph officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
