Bonnie Jean (Adkins) Perdue ,97, died on January 7, 2025 at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, GA Born in Sciotoville, Ohio October 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Alexander) Adkins.
Bonnie is preceded in death by husband Roy Perdue and son Roy David Perdue as well as siblings Bertie Riley, Zelma Bennett, Stanley Adkins, and Harry Adkins.
She is a member of Acworth UMC (GA). She has lived in many states, the latest being Georgia where her daughter resides. Bonnie graduated from Minford HS in 1945. She was a member of the P.E.O. organization as well as Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she held the 50+ master’s degree and had received the Golden Circle Ritual.
For 18 years she was the Director of Volunteer Services at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO where she was instrumental in developing the volunteer program. She was very active at the state level as a leader and officer in the Missouri Association of Volunteer Administrators.
Surviving is a sister Anna B. Adkins Cardenas (Arturo) of Portsmouth, OH; sister-in-law Brenda Adkins, Portsmouth, Ohio; daughter Deborah Jean Greening (Horace “Jocko”) Acworth, GA; son John Ellis Perdue (Faith), Virginia Beach, VA; and daughter-in-law Susan Perdue Benton (Tom)of Cape Girardeau, MO.
Also surviving are four grandchildren-Daniel Greening (Tamisa), Christopher Greening (ToniAnn), Benjamin Greening (Lauren), Abby Perdue, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be at 11:am on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Brant Funeral Home at 422 Harding Ave, Portsmouth Ohio 45662 with Reverend Robert Alexander officiating.
Interment will be at Wheelersburg Memorial Burial Park. Gathering will begin at 10:00 at Brant’s. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the International Chapter P.O.E.
