Brenda Jean Horr, 77, of West Portsmouth, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at SOMC. She was born in Cincinnati on January 12, 1947, the daughter of the late Rev. Virgil Eugene ‘Jack’ and Vivian Alberta Gaffin Cooper. She was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Allen Fletcher.
Brenda was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having been a nursing instructor and Director of the Practical Nursing Program and SCJVS for 30 years. Brenda received an ADN Degree in 1974, and her BSN from Ohio University in 1982. She loved to read and watch her grandson Braden play baseball in her free time.
Surviving are her two sons, Charles David (Shelley) Horr of Wheelersburg, and Scott Cooper (Melissa) Horr of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Jenna Horr, Hannah (Michael) Kotte, and Braden Horr; one great-granddaughter, Ellie-Ann Mullins; one great-grandson, Kai Cooper Roy Mullins; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Mauk; six step-great-grandchildren, Paydon, Arriah, Maverik, Titus and Ezekiel Mauk, and Charles Fletcher; a brother, Jay (Cindy) Cooper of West Union; a nephew, Todd Cooper of West Union; and two dear friends who were like sisters to her, Peggy Krick of West Portsmouth, and Cecilia Ballee of Gilbert, SC.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating and interment in Kirker Cemetery in West Union. The Nurse Honor Guard of the River Cities will honor Brenda for her many years of service in the nursing profession.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
