Brian Scott Gill, 51, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at SOMC Emergency Room. He was born on July 29, 1971, to the late John Edward Gill and Valerie (Swearingen) Gill in Okinawa, Japan.
Brian worked as a corrections officer for Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe. He was an avid fisherman, loved Ohio State and Dallas Cowboys football, and was an expert marksman, but most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them.
Brian is survived by his mother, Valerie Gill of Minford; three sons, Andrew Gill of Portsmouth, Joshua Gill of Wheelersburg, and Kyle Gill of Portsmouth; one daughter, Rachel Stamper of Portsmouth; a sister, Christina Shaw and husband Homer of Oak Hill; five grandchildren, Mason Gill, Milo Gill, and Mar’Chey Gill, William Stamper, and Chase Stamper. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Jeffery Gill.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston, with Deacon Terry Acox officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. Friends may call Monday from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
