What started as a report of a fight under the bridge near the Shawnee Boat Club quickly turned into a mental health emergency—and thanks to fast-acting officers, one man got the help he needed.
Police rushed to the scene after witnesses reported two men, possibly under the influence, fighting beneath the bridge. When officers arrived, they spotted a shirtless man on the Levy matching the description.
After speaking with him, it became clear the man was in distress and threatening to harm himself. Rather than escalate the situation, one of the officers personally transported him to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment.
Once at the hospital, the man became increasingly agitated and had to be restrained for the safety of medical staff, but he was ultimately placed in the care he needed.
👏 A Job Well Done
Officers showed compassion and calm under pressure, choosing care over cuffs in a situation that could have ended much worse.
