It was a wild night in Portsmouth as two separate shady characters ended up behind bars — one caught on camera breaking into a home and another creeping around cars in a ski mask.
Around 11 p.m., a man watching his security cameras got the shock of his life when he spotted someone actively breaking into his house. Even worse? It was the same guy who had allegedly threatened him with a gun in the past.
The homeowner, who wasn’t at the residence, quickly met officers in the parking lot of Aldi and gave them the rundown — a dangerous man was breaking in right now on 12th Street. Officers rushed to the home and detained two men at the scene. One of them, Samuel Simon, was arrested for burglary and aggravated menacing. Police impounded a vehicle and booked Simon into the Scioto County Jail.
But the night wasn’t over yet.
SKI MASK SUSPICIONS
Just before midnight, things got even weirder on Linden Avenue. Concerned neighbors spotted a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack, peeking into cars and ducking every time headlights approached.
Officers tracked him down at the Speedway on Gallia, ran his info — and boom — he had open warrants. Another one in cuffs, booked into the Scioto County Jail.
Lesson of the night?
Lock your doors, check your cameras, and keep an eye out — because in Portsmouth, the weird doesn’t wait for daylight.
