It was another jam-packed day for first responders in Scioto County, with 63 calls logged in just 24 hours. From emergency medical runs to domestic disputes and a rash of false alarms, local EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies had their hands full.
Earlier this year, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office made the decision to stop providing detailed call logs to Scioto County Daily News. Here’s a breakdown of Thursday’s activity:
🚑 Emergency Medical & Fire Calls: 30 Incidents
Medical Emergencies:
Paramedics responded to over two dozen calls for medical assistance across the county. These included transports from areas like Gallia Pike, Greenbriar Road, Mt. Hope Road, and multiple assisted living facilities such as Rosemount Pavilion and SOMC Premier Health. Common calls ranged from respiratory distress to unknown medical issues requiring hospital transport.
Injury & Non-Injury Accidents:
Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to accidents on Maple Benner Road, Bennett Road, and Route 348. Fortunately, most involved no injuries or resulted in cancellations before arrival.
Fire & Hazards:
One fire call came in from Haverhill-Ohio Furnace Road, prompting a full response from firefighters and medics. Crews also cleared several road hazards and blocked roadways throughout the day on routes including Big Bear Creek Road and Morris Lane-Blue Run Road.
🚓 Crime & Law Enforcement Activity: 33 Calls
Domestic and Juvenile Issues:
Officers handled a domestic complaint on Haverhill-Ohio Furnace Road and responded to a juvenile issue on Noel Lane, which resulted in at least one arrest.
Investigations & Follow-ups:
Deputies logged multiple investigations and follow-ups, including suspicious vehicles and people near locations like Deemer’s Super Market, Little Caesars, and Pine Lane.
Alarms & False Alarms:
A surge in alarm calls kept deputies busy, with at least six commercial and residential alarms reported on Pine Lane, Rabbit Run Road, and at businesses such as Toro Loco and the Scioto County Garage—most turned out to be false or were cancelled.
Theft & Assault:
A theft investigation was opened on Gallia Pike, and an assault was reported on Jordan Days Road, where the victim required medical transport.
Traffic & Public Complaints:
Traffic issues and neighbor disputes were scattered throughout the day. Traffic warnings and road blockage calls came from areas like Second Street, Route 52, and Tick Hollow Road.
🚔 Miscellaneous Law Enforcement
Civil Processes & Assists:
Deputies attempted to serve civil paperwork in New Boston and on Gallia Street but were unable to locate subjects. Assistance was also provided to other units, including one late-night call to McDonald’s in Wheelersburg.
