Scioto County officers found themselves in the middle of a family feud. The first call came in just after midnight from a woman who said her boyfriend’s mother had turned violent and had refused to leave the house. The caller said she’d locked herself in the bathroom for safety. Dispatch said they could hear a woman screaming in the background. Shortly after, the woman said she no longer needed help because the mom left when she called 911.
A few minutes later, the mom called officers from the parking lot of the Dollar General in West Portsmouth to say she’d let the home because things were “getting crazy.” She told officers her son’s friend told her that the girlfriend’s dad had told the son that he was going to blow her brains out.
Officers offered her a victim’s rights form, but after receiving a call from her husband, the woman said she wanted to drop everything. Officers took her aside to confirm that she did not want to press charges, and she chose not to file a report.
However, around 10 pm that evening, the woman headed to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report a butter attack at the son’s home.
She said she was visiting her son when his girlfriend’s father came out of the house and threw butter on her vehicle. The man then attempted to assault her husband through an open truck window.
The woman’s husband returned home, but she wanted to file a report about the second incident.
