Camper Bursts into Flames on St. Rt. 73
Just after 12:30 am, Otway and Union Township Firefighters responded to a report of a camper on fire on St. Rt. 73. The caller did not know if the camper was occupied.
When firefighters arrived on the scene to extinguish the blaze, they determined that the State Fire Marshal should be contacted to investigate the blaze.
The Fire Marshal’s office said they would send someone out in the morning.
Injury Accident on McDermott Rushtown Road
Officers and EMS responded to McDermott Rushtown Road for a report of a one-car injury accident just after 8 pm.
The vehicle went over an embankment, and the driver was still inside with a possible neck injury.
Multiple EMS units responded to the scene to rescue the driver.
Tree Takes out Powerlines on Carey’s Run-Pond Creek Road
A fallen tree caused a mess on Carey’s Run – Pond Creek Road just after 5 am. Witnesses reported that the tree took out powerlines and power to the area and blocked traffic.
Scioto County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch contacted AEP and the County Garage to respond. A deputy stood by to control the scene until the power company arrived.
Victim Airlifted, Road Closed After Semi vs. Van Crash
An accident closed part of US Hwy 23 just before 8 am. The semi-truck vs. van collision happened at 7:48 am. Valley firefighters were joined by the A-Plant fire team to assist at the scene.
First responders shut down the highway. EMS personnel requested an air ambulance, which landed on the highway near the scene and evacuated the victim to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The roads were open again at 8:47 am.
