A caregiver had to go to the hospital after sustaining injuries from an attack by a 90-year-old patient. Officers learned of the incident after the caregiver’s mom called them and said that the woman’s client had a gun on her.
She said the caregiver had a bloody face and a black eye and was attempting to calm the patient down, and he was attempting to walk away down 6th Street.
When officers arrived, they learned that the patient had dementia but also that no weapon was involved in the attack.
Workers from the VA arrived on the scene as well. An ambulance transported the man to the Chillicothe VA for treatment, and the caregiver headed to SOMC for treatment.
