Child Goes on Rampage With Baseball Bat – Courts and CPS Can’t Help
South Webster residents contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office for help after a child went wild with a baseball bat, breaking stuff and attempting to hit people.
When officers spoke with the juvenile court, an official told them they were not going to place a child in a secure facility for breaking a few things, and the parents needed to contact CPS for placement.
Dispatch attempted to contact CPS multiple times but kept getting sent to voicemail. When they were finally able to speak to a CPS worker, they said they could not come out then as it was not an emergency, but planned to follow up with the family later.
About an hour later, the family called SCSO again to report the child had pushed a man through a door and had gotten physical with other individuals. Officers took the child into custody and notified CPS that they were transporting the youngster to the juvenile court.
