A Kentucky State Senator attempted to clarify her comments during a hearing for legislation banning child sex dolls in Kentucky.
During the hearing, Karen Berg, a 61-year-old physician who services on the Legislative Research Commission, pointed to what she called “a limited amount” of studies that showed the availability of child sex dolls might prevent pedophiles from offending.

“I was completely unfamiliar with child sex dolls. I had to Google it last night.”

Berg continued, “Apparently, there is research on the subject. The limited amount of research that’s done on these guys suggests that for people who are attracted to minors, these dolls actually decrease their proclivity to go out and attack children. It gives them a release that makes them less likely to go outside of their homes.”
Berg’s comments recently went viral on social media with many objecting to her using the term “minor-attracted persons’ to describe pedophiles.
Berg issued a statement to “clarify her comments” saying, “As a mom and a physician, I am of course deeply concerned with the harm of pedophilia, and I regret if my question in the committee didn’t convey that. I voted in favor of House Bill 207 to outlaw child sex dolls, a stance that aligns with my commitment to safeguarding the well-being of our youth and holding perpetrators accountable.
