A child in the midst of a mental health crisis caused quite a scare. Just before 8 pm, a worried parent said the child was in the front yard of the family home waving a sickle and threatening to harm anyone who approached them.
A deputy managed to take the weapon from the child, but the child would not calm down. Officers called for a squad and detained the child for its own safety. An ambulance transported the child to the hospital.

Gun Confiscated From Unruly Child
Officers responded to a Franklin Furnace home after a unruly child was caught with a gun.
Officers picked up the child, took them to the station to be fingerprinted, and then drove the child to an Ironton Group Home.
