Officers responded to a local middle school after a report of an assault during recess.
The principal told deputies that two boys tackled each other during a football game. They said one boy grabbed the other in a bear hug and then leaned in to bite him on his chest near his shoulder.

The biting child was apparently on furlough from the Lawrence County Juvenile Detention Center. A Lawrence County Juvenile Probation Officer said they planned to violate the boy and have his mother take him back to the detention center.
The boy’s mother picked him up at school and returned him to a group home.
