“Crackhead” Interferes with Garbage Pickup

A city garbage truck worker contacted PPD just after 7 am to report a “crackhead” digging through a dumpster they wanted to empty on Mabert Road.

The man threatened to assault the truck worker, so he left the area. When officers responded to the scene, they arrested a 37-year-old man for aggravated menacing.

Officers booked the man into the Scioto County Jail for the 16th time. Previous arrests include domestic threats, probation violation, contempt, petty theft, breaking and entering, tampering with evidence, and criminal damaging.

Heroin User Revived on Mabert Road

Just before 6 pm, PPD officers responded to a report of an apparently high man at Gallia and Union Street. Officers took him into custody for disorderly conduct and transported him to the Scioto County Jail.

Three hours later, a caller reported a man passed out in a driveway in the 1500 block of Mabert Road. Officers managed to wake him up with a couple of sternum rubs.

He told them he wasn’t sure what happened, but he had used heroin about an hour previously. Police noted he had pinpoint pupils but said he did not appear to have overdosed. The man refused an ambulance, so an officer dropped him off at his mother’s house.

Around 1 am, officers were called back to Mabert Road for a report of a man overdosing in an alley in the 1300 block. The caller said the man was not breathing. An ambulance transported him to the hospital.

Passed Out at Big Lots

A caller contacted PPD to report that a man had passed out near Big Lots at 4:30 pm. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital.

At the same time, another caller spotted a man passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the alley near Aaron’s on Walnut Street. However, the man left before the officers arrived.

An 8th Street caller reported a suspicious person in the alley behind 8th Street at 2 am. Officers said the man had mental health issues but seemed okay otherwise.

At 3:30 am, a caller reported a man near a church in the 1700 block of 6th Street who acted as if he were “messed up on something.” Officers and EMS responded to the scene. A squad transported the man to the hospital.

High at the Lucasville Family Dollar

Just before 7 am, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an apparently high woman at the Lucasville Family Dollar. They said the woman kept jumping into traffic. The driver said there was a second woman involved.

Officers caught up with the woman at 139 and Riddlebarger. Police detained her because they thought she might need some mental health assistance.

They searched for the other woman and found her near the Old Kenny’s Market. She requested an ambulance. Portsmouth Ambulance dispatched a unit and transported her to the hospital.
