Homeowners hope that having security cameras on their property will keep them safe from intruders, but crooks often find ways to work around them. That was the case for a Union Street resident who contacted the Portsmouth Police Department at 3:30 a.m. to report a disturbing incident.
The woman said a masked person shut off the security camera in her backyard. Three units responded to the scene and checked the area. Officers didn’t see anyone suspicious around but advised the woman to lock all doors and windows and call them if the guy returned.
The resident suspected someone who had an issue with someone staying at the apartment could be the culprit, as he’d caused problems before.
Officers took information for a report.
Police were called back to Union Street later in the afternoon for a report that someone broke into a vehicle and stole a watch. Officers took information for a report.
