Danny Ray Meenach, 68, of South Shore KY died peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth Ohio after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born March 13, 1955, the son of the late Lowell L. Meenach and surviving mother, Vina Darlene (Taylor) Meenach.
In addition to his mother, Danny is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, his high school sweetheart, Valerie June (Holcomb) Meenach whom he married March 1, 1975. He is also survived by his three daughters, Brooke Danielle (Ryan) Wells, Carrie Ann (Andrew) Gullett, Casey Renae (William) McCall; seven grandchildren, Adrian, Ally, Brody, Emery, Aleah, Lilah, and Liam; sister Debra (Ronnie) Tackett and brother Michael J. (Leia) Meenach; a large extended family and many close and supportive friends.
He was devoted to his family and loved being Papaw to his grandchildren. He loved farming, fishing, hunting, boating, and family trips to Mackinac Island. “Farmer Dan” was happiest with his family and working the fields on his tractor. He was recently honored to receive the first Legacy Farm award by the Kentucky Farm Bureau. Anyone who knew him described him as the hardest working man they knew.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY. Graveside services and burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY., with Donnie Smith officiating.
