David Ray Williams, 77, of West Portsmouth, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 14, 1947, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Randall and Gerlean Combs Williams.
A Portsmouth High School graduate, David worked as a truck driver for 27 years. He retired after 17 years with Reinhardt Trucking, and he then spent 10 years as an owner-operator, primarily hauling steel. He was a devoted OSU Buckeye fan and loved football, having coached West Portsmouth Pee Wee Football teams for several years. He also enjoyed boating and fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandbabies. Along with his wife, he enjoyed evenings at the James Dickey Post American Legion, where he was formerly a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 50 years, Linda Marie Bundy Williams, whom he married on April 17, 1975, in Leesburg, FL. The couple was blessed with two sons, Paul Matthew ‘Matt’ Bennett Williams and David Clark (Sara) Williams, Jr., all of Portsmouth; a brother, Larry Randall (Anita) Williams of West Portsmouth; brother-in-law, Paul Richard (Bertha) Bundy of Kitts Hill and sister-in-law, Bonita (Gary) Creger of Coal Grove; seven grandchildren, Abby (Sean) Card, Vlad Matthew (Sarah) Bennett, Brandon (Haley) Scott, Justin (Courtney) Scott, David Williams, Eric Williams, and Isiah Clark Williams; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Aquinas Bennett, Jeremiah Scott, Paisley Scott, Jaxon Scott and Mia Scott; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor David Monroe officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home on Friday.
