Bryan Davis thinks young people need to step up and join local volunteer fire and EMS departments and that’s contributing to the county’s EMS crisis.
“We’re seeing a lack of volunteers in the rural departments. It’s something we’ve met with them and talked about. Young people just don’t seem to be interested in volunteering like they used to be.”
Davis said younger adults need to step up and join their local volunteer fire departments. “It is critical that we have that coverage. We really would urge anyone who is interested in that to go and knock on a door and ask. They are really, really struggling for help right now.”
Davis said a lot of times pages for help from 9-1-1 go unanswered because there’s no one to go out on the run. “It is a lifesaving issue. If anybody could, please give it your time and volunteer. I guarantee it will be worthwhile.”
