A terrified caller in West Portsmouth dialed 911 after receiving chilling death threats from an unknown number.
POLICE RESPONSE
Officers advised the resident on their options but, with no suspect or solid lead, they couldn’t file a formal criminal report.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE ANONYMOUS THREATS
If you or someone you know receives threatening messages, take these steps to protect yourself:
Block the sender – If the threats come from a phone number, block it. If on social media, report and block the account.
Document everything – Take screenshots of the messages, including timestamps and sender details.
Contact law enforcement – Even if the sender is unknown, report the threats to your local police for advice and potential action.
Report it to your phone provider – Many carriers allow you to flag and report harassing or threatening calls.
Alert social media platforms – If the threats come via Facebook, Instagram, or other apps, report the user for violating platform policies.
Stay vigilant – If threats escalate, inform close friends or family, consider security measures, and never engage with the harasser.
Who’s behind these threats? That remains a mystery—but one local resident is sleeping with one eye open tonight.
