Delores Mae Fields Shupert, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away surrounded by her family. She was born November 21, 1938, in Portsmouth to the late Meredith Benton Fields and Mary Alice Barker Fields.
Along with her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, John W. “Jack” Shupert; a daughter, Kristina Payne; a brother, Carl Fields; a sister, Betty Watson; and a grandson, Matthew Ryan Rickey.
Delores was a 1956 graduate of Portsmouth West High School and a graduate of Rio Grande University. She retired from Valley Local Schools after 30 years of dedicated service and was a life member of both the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Scioto County Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Larry) Rickey and Jovanna (Greg) Johnson; two sisters, Geneva Denning and Janet Baker; four grandchildren, Dan Rickey, Luke (Michaela) Johnson, Audrey (Will) Haygood, and Amy (Nathan) Smalley; and nine great-grandchildren, Austin Rickey, Kathen Rickey, Lynlee Smalley, Maci Smalley, Jack Rickey, Vanessa Rickey, Abigail Smalley, Jon Haygood, and Colt Haygood.
Delores will be remembered for her dedication to education, her love for her family, and the kindness she shared with all who knew her.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Sunday November 16, 2025, at the Roger W Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jason Coriell officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
