Just before 9:30 pm on Thursday, emergency workers responded to a call of a truck striking a home in the 4200 block of Rhodes Ave in New Boston.
The initial reports indicate that three vehicles were involved. According to statements, the truck struck another vehicle before hitting the home.

A third vehicle was reported as being responsible for the crash. The vehicle is said to have fled the scene. Neither a description nor a photo of that vehicle has been released.

The home was occupied when the vehicle stuck it. They were reported to be unharmed and did not require hospitalization.
An extrication was required by the fire department from the trapped driver of the truck that struck the home.

Porter Township EMS was returning to Wheelersburg when they were flagged down at the scene. In addition to Porter Township EMS, Portsmouth Ambulance also responded. Air Evac was requested to be put on standby.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol took over the investigation and the New Boston Police Department assisted.
The driver, Randy Parlin of Franklin Furnace was taken to SOMC escorted by a New Boston Police officer. Parlin succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into this case will continue. It is still being investigated whether a third vehicle caused the accident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the OSP.
