Deputies and the Dog Warden’s office were called in to investigate a report of a dog attacking multiple individuals.
A caller contacted 911 around 8:45 am to report he was taking a morning walk when his neighbor’s dog had charged from its yard and bit him twice. He said the animal continued to charge him as he walked away but finally returned home. The deputy noted the man had two bites on his leg, and they were bleeding.
This wasn’t the first time the dog terrorized the South Point neighborhood. The dog allegedly also attacked the man and his wife three weeks previously, tearing the wife’s pants. However, she wasn’t injured at that time.
The officer called in the Lawrence County Dog Warden and headed to the animal’s home. When the officer stopped, the dog charged the officer’s car. When the dog warden arrived, the dog charged her before returning to the home.
The warden spoke to the owner over the phone, and they gave officers permission to take the dog. The deputy determined the dog had broken free of its tether.
The deputy issued a citation to the owner and gave her a court date.
Pit Bulls Kills Dogs, Goats
Officers responded to Carpenter Road after a caller said his brother’s pit bulls killed his dog. He said the dog had killed before, taking the lives of several goats and another dog.
When officers arrived on the scene, he said his brother allowed his dogs to run loose, and they’d come down the road and killed his female Australian Shepherd.
The deputy tried to make contact with the brother, but no one answered his door. The dog warden also responded to the scene and advised the man to get pictures of his brother’s dogs running loose.
Other neighbors backed up the story about the dogs running loose, but said the owners would lie about the dogs belonging to them. The officer said they had no proof and advised them on what to do if they came back.
